infection control

Infection Control is Our Priority

There have been public concerns during the past few years about the possible transmission of infectious disease in the dental office. At Smiles of Virginia we share this concern, and since we treat you like we treat our own family, we have taken the following measures to prevent the possible transmission of infection:

GUIDELINES

We meet or exceed guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and the American Dental Association. We also comply with all provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s bloodborne pathogen regulations.

STERILIZATION PROCESS

All instruments and handpieces are sterilized before use. We run tests to ensure the effectiveness of all sterilization procedures. For your safety, instead of relying solely on in-office testing, we have also partnered with MesaLabs. MesaLabs is an outside testing agency used to verify our sterilization process is always working.

OTHER PROTECTIVE MEASURES

Needles are discarded after use. All mirrors, chairs, handles and any other clinic item that may have been touched or used during a patient’s treatment are cleaned with a strong disinfectant. Gloves, protective eyewear and masks are changed between each patient. Furthermore, we use both disinfectant hand soap and an alcohol gel.

FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

We strive to offer a comfortable, safe environment for dental care by following infection control guidelines. Any patients with questions should always free to talk with Dr. Amber or Dr. Oestervemb.
